UCA.6 :: design experiment 2

STRATEGY //
We want to make our identity creative and tangible. Our idea came out with pencils and paper which are the main materials for design and fine arts students.



We also made a simple strategy:
Materials: papers and pencils.
Type: simple typeface with hand made 3D letters.
Vision: Creating a clear, strong and memorable identity, which carries the creative taste and reliable feeling.
Promotion: “Start to do it! You have the creative power inside your hand, just start it!
When I give you the pencil I invite you to join the creative power!”
The C is the formed with pencils which is means here-UCA.
Colors: It is difficult and controversial to define the identity of each campus. And using different textures to present different campuses is difficult and is over generalized.
Therefore, using the same tone in all the campuses.



After all the letters have been made. We used the computer to improve the quality and perfect the layout. The front angle of the letter “C” is full of the regular of pencil head. Comparing with U and A, C is more special for enhancing the meaning of “creativity”.


After self-criticism, unfortunately, we felt that this identity is not communicated properly with viewer. When this identity has reduced to small scale, it becomes difficult to show the pencil textural and the “C” becomes flat then other letters.
